ADOPTION PENDING

Butler is ready for adoption! He feels fantastic and is so happy! He has now discovered the toy box and, after his much needed dental issues were addressed, he seems to have re-discovered his love for food, including a little counter surfing! But that's the only area he needs work. In all the other areas, he's a well-mannered gentleman. He's great on leash and he's now making As in potty training, barking to let you know when he needs to go out. Butler is also friendly around cats, dogs, children, chickens, and adults. While he may be a little older don't let that fool you - he's got plenty of vim and vigor left so a secure, fenced-in yard is a must. This is a dog that wants to spend the day running around your yard, and then curl up in a comfortable spot with you at night.

***UPDATE*** The heart murmur is improved and Butler is all set for his neuter surgery and dental in early July. He charmed all the other people in the vet's waiting room - especially with how friendly and easy he is with other dogs.

***UPDATE*** We just want to share that this senior is all that is lovely about seniors! He can be energetic in the yard especially where squirrels are concerned but is such a sweet and mellow guy. He's so very easy and calm to have around. We will have him back to the vet for a check up at the end of June and hope to schedule is neuter surgery and dental after that.

This senior Beagle boy is as easy going and sweet as they come. Butler came from Lake Butler, Florida and we were delighted to have the opportunity to rescue him. Butler apparently had not been cared for in some time. His skin was raw and scaly in places and nails were definitely overgrown. What a joy it was to give him a bath and begin his road to a better life! Butler does have a heart murmur so we will have him on some medication before we do his much-needed dental and will neuter him then too. But lo and behold, he is heartworm negative! Butler has gotten along super well with the other dogs in his foster home and after a week's time is doing excellent with house training as well. He's moderately active enjoying good trot about the yard while sniffing but happy to take naps as well. The shelter staff told us that he was sort of independent and didn't seem to really respond to affection much. We thought that too in the beginning but we think he just had grown to accept neglect. Now he is learning that he can be the object of love and affection and seems to be very receptive to those lessons!
